A large Canadian cohort study found that gestational carriers, or pregnancy surrogates, face a higher associated risk for severe maternal morbidity, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, and postpartum hemorrhage compared with women who carry their own pregnancies with or without fertility assistance.
